05/10/2023

Secure Network, a company part of BV TECH and a leader in offensive cybersecurity in Italy and Europe, has inaugurated its Accredited Testing Laboratory (LAP), one of eight selected by the National Cybersecurity Agency’s (ACN) nationwide Call for Proposals and the only one so far in Milan.

A facility dedicated to the testing of software, devices and connected machinery, equipped with an intrusion detection system with sensors at doors and windows, dual technology volumetric sensors and an alarm notification system to the vigilance with inside also a laboratory with reinforced shatterproof perimeter walls with metal plate, armored door with double factor authentication access. In short, a bunker a stone’s throw from the center of the Lombard capital, ready to become one of the main hubs for cybersecurity to support companies and Public Administration.

Cybersecurity today is an important item of expenditure for countries: a trend that finds explanation in the numbers presented by CLUSIT-the Italian Association for Information Security-in its Report. Last year, there were 2,489 serious attacks worldwide; of these, 188 were recorded in Italy, up 169% from 2021, partly as a result of the conflict in Ukraine. Eighty-three percent of those that went down in our country had very serious or critical consequences for the organizations that suffered them. As a result, Italy spent just under 2 billion euros on cybersecurity products and services in 2022, 18 percent more than the previous year.

The Cyber Resilience Act passed by the European Council introduced unified and shared regulations to design and develop products and software with mandatory minimum cybersecurity requirements to ensure the security of connected devices and machinery against these growing cyber threats. It is to implement the new standards that LAPs, designed to verify and certify compliance with these mandatory requirements, are born under ACN accreditation.

The Milan cybersecurity hub will employ the security engineers that Secure Network has selected and trained in its nearly 20-year history. By 2024 there will be more than 40 specialists working in defense of the private and public sectors, ready to analyze and certify software and related products. 40 security engineers, true resources of excellence in our country, able to support both the demands of public administration and companies with particular focus on the biomedical sector, manufacturing points of excellence of Made in Italy.

“This Lab is the result of a financial investment, but above all in excellent skills according to precise ideas and programs ,” says Alvise Biffi, CEO of Secure Network. which aim to strengthen national control capabilities and achieve national technological autonomy, as outlined in the National Cybersecurity Strategy. Ours is a service to companies, but more importantly to the country, thanks in part to targeted use of PNRR funds.”
